Udhayanidhi Stalin, is an Indian politician and former actor who currently serves as the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, a position he has held since 2024. He assumed this role under the leadership of his father, M. K. Stalin, the Chief Minister. Remarkably, he is the youngest individual to hold the deputy chief minister position in the state. Additionally, he has been the Minister of Youth Welfare and Sports Development in Tamil Nadu since December 2022.
Udhayanidhi stepped into the political arena in 2019 when he was appointed as the Youth Wing Secretary of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party, guided by his father. In 2021, he became a Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly with M. Appavu serving as the Speaker. The following year, he was appointed by his father again to take on the responsibilities of Minister of Youth Welfare and Sports Development and was also designated as a Cabinet Minister in Tamil Nadu.
In 2024, Udhayanidhi was chosen by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to serve as the third Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and to be his running mate for future electoral endeavors. He officially took office on September 28, 2024.
