After wrapping up his role as chief associate director on Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan I and II, Dhana set off to create a fresh project, crafting a narrative without a particular actor in mind. T. D. Rajha from Chendur Film International wanted to team up with Vijay Antony again after their successful collaboration on Kodiyil Oruvan (2021). When they approached Antony, they explored various directors and ultimately settled on Dhana, who had impressed them with his direction in Vaanam Kottattum (2020).
Once the script was finalized, Dhana shared the story with Antony. To highlight the romantic elements of the film, Dhana aimed to give Antony a youthful appearance, utilizing makeup, styling, and a wig to achieve this effect.
On September 28, 2023, the film’s title was revealed along with the cast announcement, featuring Riya Suman as the lead actress, alongside Charan Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Redin Kingsley, Vivek Prasanna, and Aadukalam Naren. Charan Raj was chosen for a significant role due to the filmmakers’ desire for a seasoned actor who had been relatively inactive in Tamil cinema by 2023, making him a fitting candidate. The film’s title, Hitler, draws inspiration from the name’s widely recognized association with dictatorship. The cinematography will be led by Naveen Kumar, with editing by Sangathamizhan E.
