Prashanth Thiagarajan, who is simply known as Prashanth, is a multifaceted Indian talent excelling as an actor, entrepreneur, playback singer, and film producer, particularly recognized for his contributions to Tamil cinema. In addition to his Tamil projects, he has also made appearances in a handful of films across Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam languages.
During the late 1990s, at the height of his career, Prashanth emerged as one of the leading figures in South Indian film. He has been honored with the Kalaimamani Award by the Tamil Nadu government. Born to actor-director Thiagarajan, Prashanth embarked on his professional journey at the age of 17 with his debut in the Tamil movie Vaigasi Poranthachu (1990). He subsequently starred in notable films such as Balu Mahendra’s Vanna Vanna Pookkal (1992), R. K. Selvamani’s Chembaruthi (1992), and Mani Ratnam’s Thiruda Thiruda (1993).
His ascent to fame was marked by Shankar’s delightful romantic comedy Jeans (1998), where he showcased his versatility with a dual role alongside Aishwarya Rai. The triumph of Jeans opened doors for him to engage in more ambitious film ventures.
