Shivaji Dev, born on September 20, 1989, is an Indian actor known for his work in Tamil cinema. He made his acting debut in the film Singakutty (2008), directed by Venkatesh. Currently, he is a contestant on the Indian reality television show, Bigg Boss 8.
Shivaji Dev initially appeared under the name Junior Sivaji in the masala film Singakutty, where he starred alongside Gowri Munjal. The film received unfavorable reviews from critics and performed poorly at the box office. In 2009, he enrolled in Balu Mahendra’s film institute to pursue a specialized acting course for a year, after which he began participating in theatrical productions. His performances on stage garnered positive feedback, particularly noted for his role as an English butler in The Importance of a Hat. Additionally, he directed plays such as Merry Christmas and Growing Up as part of the Short & Sweet Theater Festival in Chennai, India.
In mid-2012, he began working on the film Nandanam, featuring alongside Mithra Kurian and Rishi. Despite completing various shooting schedules in Chennai, the film remains unfinished and has yet to be released in theaters. His second project was the coming-of-age film Pudhumugangal Thevai, in which he portrayed an aspiring film director. The film had a modest release in December 2012 and received negative reviews; however, one critic acknowledged Shivaji’s potential.
In 2014, he appeared in AVM Productions’ experimental drama Idhuvum Kadandhu Pogum, where he played a widower. This film was released directly on YouTube and received positive reviews from critics.
In 2024, he joined the reality show Bigg Boss 8 as a contestant.
